Google teased a redesign of Google Drive during its I/O conference a couple of weeks ago. Today, the redesign is rolling out to users on the web.
The interface of Drive is cleaned up and resembles the redesigned Android apps. There’s now a single “New” button that handles creating new documents, sheets, folders, and more.

Files are also displayed in a thumbnail view by default instead of a list. This makes it easier to see which files you’re moving around.
Perhaps the most useful new feature is support for desktop controls. You can now click-and-drag to select multiple files as well as using keyboard shortcuts. For example, you can select individual files by holding Ctrl.
Drive has also been sped up. Files load faster and moving around the interface is snappier. Google has gone to great lengths to make Google Drive feel like a desktop application. This really helps make Google’s Chrome OS feel more like an operating system instead of just a web browser.
The Google Drive redesign is rolling out slowly to users so don’t expect to see it just yet.
Google Drive is also available for iOS and Android.
